How I Got Into Anime

Like many 90's kids, I grew up with Cheez TV, more specifically - Pokemon (when it was good), Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, Beyblade (later on) and Sailor Moon. At this point I was a little innocent child with no concept of what was Japanese animation to normal animation, so here the story is kind of pointless. This was simply the first anime I watched.

I was sucked into anime when I was reading an edition of a K-Zone magazine and at the back they had a bunch of advertisements for anime DVD. The one that caught my interest was: Love Hina, more specifically, Naru Narusegawa. I mean, she's hot, pretty and the cover art for the DVD was well drawn. To me, the sappy love story sounded interesting. I Googled it when I could, and from there discovered the names of more anime:

I soon discovered that characters like Chidori Kaname (FMP!) and Eclair (Kiddy Grade) are pretty much better animated versions of the same character. From this day I still haven't seen Love Hina, but from reviews and videos I've seen it looks kinda crap, so I'm inclined not to. The first proper anime I bought as a boxset and watched in full was Fruits Basket (2001). At the time it was the best thing ever, i watched it a million times, so it is special to me in that sense, but I have seen a lot of anime since then, and keep searching for more.
